83 Years Ago.
September 27th marks the 83rd anniversary of the start of work on the Stick Shed.
It was exactly three weeks from the time the site was decided to work starting.
On September 6th Cllr Evans of Murtoa offered the Grain Elevators Board 5 acres of land for 20 pounds an acre. The offer was accepted and the site confirmed
Between the 10th and 15th of September tenders were open for everything but the concrete floor.
Green Bros of Bendigo were appointed to do the build and 12 days after tenders closed work began.
By early January grain was being delivered to the Stick Shed then in mid-February the concrete elevator was brought on-line so the train siding could be used as designed.
The rest is history.
